Police Deploy Personnel To Curb Violence In Osun Communities

Information obtained by 9News Nigeria revealed that the Police command in Osun State says officers have been deployed to prevent further bloodshed and unrest in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities in Orolu and Irepodun LGAs.

Spokesperson for the Command, SP Adeoye Adeola, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, stressing that officers have been sent to restore peace and prevent further violence in the affected communities.

9News Nigria reports that part of the statement revealed; “Persistent animosity between Ifon and Ilobu resurfaced on Friday, spreading to Erin-Osun, resulting in murder, arson, and deliberate destruction of lives and property.”

According to the information, Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, ordered the deployment of personnel to enforce peace and uphold the police’s duty to protect lives and property.

Police, alongside other security agencies, will strictly enforce the 24-hour curfew declared by the governor to prevent further violence and unrest in the area.

Adeola therefore confirmed that three suspects were arrested for curfew violations, found armed with a Dane gun, just as he cited that a thorough investigation would be carried out, and the suspects prosecuted in court accordingly.

The Spokes Person added that the command is monitoring the situation to identify and prosecute all instigators and their sponsors.
