Troops of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a suspected kidnappers’ camp in Edimogbo Forest, Igalamela-Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The operation, carried out by troops of the 21 Battalion under the 12 Composite Brigade, followed intelligence reports about suspected kidnappers operating from the forest.
According to the Army, the suspects fired shots to alert other members of their group upon sighting the advancing troops before fleeing deeper into the forest.

Although the troops pursued them without further contact, they successfully destroyed the camp and recovered about 1,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, seven bandoliers and six motorcycles.
Other items recovered include a mobile phone, a Glo modem, two shovels, a hand pump, clothing, shoes and Jerry can of petrol.

According to a statement from the army spokesman Col. Apollonia Anele, acting director of army public relations, said the army will continue offensive operations against kidnappers and other criminal group, urged members of the public to keep giving security agencies “credible and timely information” to support those efforts.
The Army says efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
