Kuala Lumpur (9News Nigeria) – Following tip off from an intelligence report, Malaysian police had yesterday carried out an emergency raid on a luxury apartment linked to the immediate former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Rasaq.
Kuala Lumpur police chief, Mazlan Lazim made an official confirmation of the raid, but said the police only carried out an investigation on the Malaysian immediate ex Prime Minister, to recover some classified documents needed for investigations.
The city police chief also confirmed that the ex prime minister and his wife have been placed on a travel ban by the new Prime Minister, Mohamad Mahathir pending conclusion of investigation on 1MDB scandal.
Mr. Najib Rasak had been suspected to have a connection to a missing multi-billion dollar, a state fund that was allegedly diverted by the ex Prime Minister during his tenure in office.
In effort to get more information and clarification on the raid, 9News Nigeria gathered from anonymous source, who had inside link to the said deluxe apartment, that the police had previously placed surveillance on the apartment following intelligence report that there were government official vehicles delivering boxes suspected to have treasurable and questionable contents.
The source also revealed that the said apartment were occupied by relatives of the ex-prime minister and his wife.
After monitoring from remote CCTV, Malaysian police, had confirmed the validity of the tip off and then bursted the deluxe apartment to make shocking discoveries.
Corruption allegation and scandals were the bone-of-contention amid other complicated issues, why Malaysians massively voted against the ex- Prime Minister in recently concluded general election, that saw Dr. Mohamad Mahathir succeed him as the 7th Malaysian Prime Minister.
