Inspector Maxwell Zabu reportedly shot himself dead in his room in Eagle Island, PortHarcourt, Rivers State in the the early hours of Tuesday April 22, 2025.
Maxwell Zabu, formerly a security detail to Victor Ihunwo’s residence in Eagle Island PortHarcourt.
A source familiar incident said the matter was reported to Azikiwe Police Division in the Area.
“Following the report, detective from the division visited the scene as part of preliminary investigation procedures”, the source said.
However, the Rivers State Police Command in reaction, confirmed the commencement of an investigation into the matter.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in PortHarcourt.
“We received a report about an officer who allegedly killed himself.
“However, we are currently investigating the report to ascertain what transpired” she added.
Iringe-Koko reported that the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation (SCIB) for a thorough Investigation.
