Eight years after the abduction of their daughter, Leah Sharibu, her parents have once again called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure her safe return.
Leah Sharibu was among the schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi Yobe State in 2018.
Leah was 14 years old when she was abducted on Febuary 19, 2018, while most of the schoolgirls were later released, Leah was later held back after she refused to renounce her Christian faith.
Speaking during a renewed appeal, the family expressed deep frustration over the prolonged silence surrounding her case, urging authorities not to forget their daughter’s plight. They said eight years of waiting have brought emotional pain an uncertainty, stressing that Leah deserves the same leave of urgency given to other rescued victims.
The parents appealed directly to the government and security agencies in Nigeria to take decisive and coordinated action to bring her home alive, adding that their hope remains unshaken despite the years.
Leah’s story has continued to draw global attention, with advocacy groups and religious bodies repeatedly demanding stronger measures to end her captivity and prevent similar incidents in schools across the country.
