A top political figure in Imo State and Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma, Hon. Chinasa Nwaneri, has been crowned “Chinasaram Okwu” of Owerri Nchi Ise during the annual Oru Owerri (New Yam) Festival, held on Thursday.
The colourful traditional coronation took place amidst a heavy downpour that briefly interrupted parts of the celebration. Nevertheless, the rain failed to diminish the significance of the occasion as traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, community stakeholders and well-wishers gathered in large numbers to witness the historic event.
The title “Chinasaram Okwu,” meaning “God Answers Prayers,” is one of the highly respected traditional honours in Owerri Nchi Ise. It is reserved for individuals whose leadership, service and contributions have earned them the admiration and confidence of their people.
Hon. Chinasa Nwaneri has remained one of Governor Hope Uzodinma’s trusted aides, serving in several strategic positions over the years. Through these assignments, he has played key advisory and administrative roles that supporters say have contributed to the implementation of the Shared Prosperity Administration, particularly in strengthening government programmes, grassroots engagement and public service delivery across Imo State.
The coronation attracted an impressive array of dignitaries from within and outside the state. Among those who celebrated with the new title holder were the Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, senior government officials, members of the State Executive Council, House of Assembly members, government appointees, traditional rulers, political associates, youth organisations and supporters, who described the honour as a fitting recognition of his years of dedicated service.
Beyond government circles, the honour also resonated strongly among alumni of Emmanuel College, Owerri, where Hon. Chinasa Nwaneri is an old student. Members of the Emmanuel College Old Boys community (Ecolians) joined other well-wishers in congratulating him, describing the traditional title as a proud achievement that reflects positively on their alma mater.
Many attendees described the coronation as one of the defining highlights of this year’s Oru Owerri New Yam Festival, noting that the heavy rainfall could not overshadow the cultural significance of the event or the overwhelming goodwill shown to Hon. Chinasa Nwaneri as he assumed the revered traditional title of Chinasaram Okwu of Owerri Nchi Ise.
