Imo State Governor and South-East Governors’ Forum Chairman, Senator Hope Uzodimma, announced that the five governors from the South-East have united in their support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027. He highlighted the region’s recent developmental achievements as a key reason for their endorsement.
Uzodimma shared this in Owerri during a crucial meeting with traditional rulers and members of the Imo State Elders Council.
Despite belonging to different political parties, the governors have found common ground, motivated by the visible federal projects transforming the South-East. They believe continued collaboration with the Federal Government advances the region’s best interests.
“After careful review, we, the five South-East governors, have decided to stand with President Tinubu because we want to be an integral part of Nigeria’s progress,” Uzodimma stated.
He also revealed plans for a joint courtesy visit to President Tinubu to reinforce their partnership with the federal government.
Uzodimma called on politicians to avoid using Igbo platforms for propaganda, emphasising that the region’s support will remain rooted in performance and tangible results.
The governors’ decision was largely influenced by federal initiatives in the region, such as the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), rehabilitations like the Port Harcourt-Aba rail line, and the approval for reconstructing the Eastern Rail Corridor from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri.
