The Government of Colombia has announced plans to establish an embassy in Nigeria.

The diplomatic mission is set to officially commence operations on August 7, 2026.
It will be based in Abuja, establishing Colombia’s first permanent diplomatic mission in Nigeria.
This new development is expected to strengthen bilateral relations by facilitating closer engagement between both governments, enhancing consular services for citizens and promoting trade and investment.
The decision follows growing diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Colombia in recent years.
Colombian officials had earlier identified the establishment of a resident embassy in Nigeria as a priority for expanding political dialogue, boosting commerce, promoting tourism and strengthening investment partnerships between the two nations.
Nigeria and Colombia have continued to deepen their bilateral relationship through high-level engagements and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The opening of the embassy is expected to further enhance political, economic and people-to-people relations between the two countries.
