President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged state governors across the country to prioritise investments that directly improve the quality of life of citizens and strengthen security.
Speaking on Thursday, the President called on a former governor to help engage serving governors on the need to redirect their focus towards initiatives that would have a more meaningful impact on the lives of Nigerians.
“You have governed before, you need to help us communicate with these other Governors…they need to do more to instead of building flyover when there is no numeric traffic, let’s do more to enhance the quality of life and support security agencies to penetrate areas,” Tinubu said.
He explained that rather than embarking on infrastructure projects that may not address pressing public needs, they should focus on strengthening livelihoods.
The President stressed that state governments should channel more resources into improving public welfare, expanding access to essential services, and providing adequate support for security agencies to effectively tackle insecurity, particularly in underserved and vulnerable communities.
The President maintained that while infrastructure development remains important, it should be guided by the actual needs of the people.
