The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit their lists of candidates for the 2027 governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
The submission deadline, initially fixed for Saturday, August 8, 2026, has now been moved to Tuesday, August 11.
INEC said the extension followed appeals from political parties seeking additional time to complete the submission process through the dedicated online portal.
Meanwhile, the Commission has announced the suspension of PVC collection activities in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
INEC said voters who applied for replacement of lost, damaged or defaced Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have until midnight on Sunday, August 9, to print downloadable copies of their cards.
The deadline, according to the Commission, will enable it compile final data on downloaded PVCs ahead of the election.
PVC collection in Osun began at the Registration Area level on July 22 and was initially scheduled to end on July 28.
However, INEC extended the exercise to July 31 following complaints about large crowds and difficulties faced by voters at collection centres.
The collection subsequently moved to the Local Government Area level and continued from August 1 to August 7.
INEC also disclosed that replacement downloadable PVCs have been provided for voters in Odo-Otin and Ife Central Local Government Areas whose cards were stolen during separate attacks on collection centres.
The Commission stressed that the stolen PVCs cannot be used to vote.
INEC assured residents that it is fully prepared to conduct a free, fair, credible and inclusive governorship election in Osun State on August 15, 2026.
