Nigeria has been selected to host the inaugural African Nations League in 2029, alongside the 2026 CAF Awards.
The development is expected to further strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leading football destination on the continent.
The African Nations League will be the first edition of the continental competition, bringing together national teams from across Africa in a new format designed to provide more competitive fixtures and enhance the development of international football on the continent.
Nigeria will also host the 2026 CAF Awards, an annual ceremony organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to recognise outstanding players, coaches and other contributors to African football.
The hosting rights for both events are expected to attract significant attention to Nigeria and provide a platform for the country to promote its football culture and strengthen its relationship with CAF and other African football stakeholders.
Further details on the venues, dates and organisational arrangements for the two events are expected to be announced by the relevant authorities.
