Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has questioned comments by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, regarding the choices of Imo voters in the 2023 general elections.

Wike raised the issue on Tuesday while responding to Uzodinma’s position on the political atmosphere of the state, pointing to the voting pattern recorded during the 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to Wike, President Bola Tinubu did not secure up to 10 per cent of the presidential votes cast in Imo State during the 2023 election.

However, he noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC), which produced Tinubu, won two senatorial seats in the state, while the Labour Party (LP) secured one.

“Hope, in his own state, Imo State, he was Governor. President Tinubu didn’t get 10 per cent votes in the 2023 elections, but he took two senators and LP took one senator,” Wike said.

He then questioned whether Uzodimma was suggesting that Imo voters were confused in their political choices.

“Is he saying Imo people were confused, or were they not confused?” Wike asked.
