Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have thwarted a suspected terrorists attack and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during separate operations in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation were carried out on September 23 and 24, 2026, following credible intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists through the bushes around Rijana.Troops of Sector 1 mobilised to the area and laid an ambush.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the troops engaged the suspected terrorists after sighting them, forcing them to flee. A follow-up search resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition, a magazine carrier and a military jungle hat.
In a separate clearance operation at Awom village in Kachia LGA, troops arrested a suspected criminal identified as Jacob.He was allegedly found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition and remains in the military custody to assist ongoing investigations.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and prompt response.
It said the military would continue offensive and clearance operations to disrupt terrorist activities, deny criminal elements freedom of action and protect communities within the Joint Operational Area.
