Igbo’s sociocultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said he suspended its Secretary General, Uche Okwukwu ”for breaching his duties and prostituting his position”.
The group made this known on Monday in a statement issued in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital by its National Publicity Secretary, Uche Achi-Okpagha.
According to Achi-Okpagha, the former NEC member congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on behalf of the group even as he is still on suspension.
The statement read in part:
“Uche Okwukwu’s recent antecedents depict clearly that he is on political suicide mission.
“Shortly before the presidential and NASS elections, he was suspended by the National Executive Committee, NEC, of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide for breaching his duties and prostituting his position.
“He belittled himself and became the black sheep out of the 24-member NEC of Ohanaeze Ndigbo whose decision could not be thwarted by one single dissenting voice.
“He arranged with people who could well be addressed as motor park touts and paid a solidarity visit to President Buhari and went further to address an APC rally which went viral, all on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
“We pity him because he thinks that such deceitful and detestable political manoeuvres will quickly attract appointment from the presidency.
Who told him that President Buhari would want to work with a traitor? Instead, he is on a self inflicted precipitous political peregrination.”
