The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC says they are in desperate need of more Ribonucleic Acid extraction kits to expand testing for the Coronavirus disease in the country.
Director-General of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu made this disclosure on Sunday via his official Twitter handle @Chikwe_I.
The Director-General said, “We’re desperately looking for more RNA extraction kits as we expand COVID-19 testing.”
He gave the product specification as “Total viral RNA extraction kits (preferably spin column and with a lysis buffer)”, from manufacturers such as Qiagen, ThermoFischer, SeeGene, Inqaba, LifeRiver, amongst others.
He urged anyone with information to this important testing material to reach the centre via its email address, “[email protected]”.
Dr Chikwe made this tweet shortly after thanking the United Nation for their support in fighting the spread of Covid-19 in Nigeria.
The United Nation, through their Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon had, on Friday, 24th April donated an ambulance to the Nigerian government with over 4.7 million gloves, 10,000 face shields, over 19,000 face masks and thousands of other medical supplies to support the Covid-19 fight in the country.
