A$AP Rocky’s ongoing felony assault trial took a turn today when the rapper interrupted his longtime associate, A$AP Twelvyy, during testimony.
The moment occurred when prosecutors questioned Twelvyy about the meaning of “AWGE,” the creative collective and label founded by Rocky. And before Twelvyy could respond, Rocky reportedly yelled out, “Don’t say,” signaling him to remain silent.
The exchange added to the already tense atmosphere in the courtroom, where Rocky, also known as Rakim Mayers is facing allegations of firing a gun during a 2021 altercation with former A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli.
According to the prosecution Rocky discharged a real firearm, while his defense argues that he used a prop gun to deter a potential threat.
Meanwhile, if convicted, he could face up to 24 years in prison.
A$AP Twelvyy had previously declined to be interviewed by the prosecution before his testimony, prompting Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold to warn him that his credibility as a witness could be questioned.
His reluctance to reveal the meaning of “AWGE” is consistent with the collective’s long-standing secrecy about its acronym.
Rocky himself has previously stated that the meaning is intentionally kept private, reinforcing the group’s mysterious branding.
The trial continues with Rocky’s defense team expected to call additional witnesses, including his tour manager, Lou Levin, in an effort to challenge the prosecution’s claims.
