An APC chieftain, Mr Tanko Abari, has pleaded with the minister of the FCT to give lifelines to the six area councils in the FCT, to enable them pay workers’ salaries.
Abari made the call on Thursday in Abuja at a ceremony to mark the first year anniversary of the administration of Mr Joseph Shazin as Chairman of the Kwali Area Council.
“If the governors are given bailout, we are saying the chairmen of the area councils too should be given bailout.
“All civil servants at the end of the month need their salaries to take care of their families.
“We are sending the signal to him. He should ask the acting president to give him a bailout.
“This is the second term of the present chairman, his performance during his first term was more but today the situation has changed.
“When a situation changes, we have to change, if the minister refuses to change, we will force him to change.’’
He pointed out that Shazin had in spite of the paucity of funds facing the council executed many projects.
“Some of the projects include new the timber market at Bako, cattle market at Yangoji and purchase of two motorcycles for the civil defence corps in Kwali,” Abari stated.
