The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and PDP presidential candidate for the February 23 election, Atiku Abubakar, yesterday said Senator Ademola Adeleke’s victory at the Election Petition Tribunal is an indication that the PDP would also reclaim its “stolen mandate” in the 2019 general election.
The PDP in a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said the judgment was a clear indication that those who set out to destroy the nation’s democracy would never triumph.
The party said no matter how evil and injustice appear to thrive, the truth must always prevail at the end of the day.
“The PDP commends the judiciary for standing upright in the defence of democracy and for ensuring that those involved in the rapacious desecration of our democratic norms will never succeed,” the party said.
Atiku in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Paul Ibe, said with the judgment, the judiciary was truly the defender of democracy.
He said the judgment had rekindled hope and confidence that those whose mandate had been tampered with or denied can look forward to justice being done to them
Similarly, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) in a statement yesterday by its spokesman and National Chairman of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Chief Ikenga Ugochinyere, said Adeleke’s victory was a huge boost to the opposition and Atiku Abubakar’s quest to reclaim his “stolen” presidential mandate.
