Angola head coach, Pedro Valdemar Soares Goncalves has named Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman as Nigeria’s key players.
Osimhen and Lookman played a key role in Nigeria’s 2:0 victory against perennial rivals Cameroon last Saturday night.
Lookman, who was named Man of the Match (MotM), scored twice, while the African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen registratered an assist.
The duo are expected to be named in a starting line-up when the three times African Champions, the Super of Nigeria confront the Black Antelopes of Angola.
Goncalves, a Portuguese, said he voted for Osimhen as one of the best players in world at FIFA because he was convinced about the stoker’s ability to confront defenders.
“I myself, in the FIFA votes, also voted for Osimhen as one of the Best Players in the World. So we will play against a selection equipped with players with a lot of talent, who have tremendous, mind-blowing playing capacity, a lot of speed, especially derived from the two forwards, Osimhen and Lookman, who, in fact, add great vertigo to the game” Goncalves told Sapo Desportovo.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Antelopes of Angola will clash in a quarter-final derby of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) at Felix Houphouet Boigny, Abidjan on Friday.
