Innocent Josiah Bitrus, a resident of Kaduna, has taken to social media to express his frustration after being allegedly scammed by a woman he met on Facebook.
According to Bitrus, he had sent a total of N50,000 to the woman, identified as Nkechi, to facilitate her journey from Lagos to Kaduna for a visit.
Bitrus claims he initially sent N25,000 for her transport, but Nkechi later called to inform him that the car she was traveling in had broken down and passengers were asked to contribute money for tires.
Out of goodwill, Bitrus sent an additional N10,000 to cover the costs.
However, two weeks later, Nkechi allegedly told him that due to a recent fuel price hike, the driver demanded another N15,000 to continue the journey.
Despite sending the requested amounts, Nkechi had yet to arrive in Kaduna, leaving the ‘lover boy’ to question her intentions.
“Nkechi, what is going on? Are you still coming?”, he lamented in a post.
The incident highlights the risks associated with online relationships and has sparked a conversation about trust and transparency in digital interactions.
Many have advised caution when dealing with individuals met through social media platforms.
