The Imo State Chairman of Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, JONAWD, Chief Dr. Stanley Nwachukwu has warned a sectional group of physically challenged persons led by one Mr. Ezenwaka Casmir who blocked Government House gate in Owerri on Tuesday 20th September, 2022 for a protest to stop deceiving Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration.

Dr. Nwachukwu who doubles as the South East Zonal Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Special Citizens described Ezenwaka Casmir and his cronnies as disdent group who have no interest of special citizens and growth of Imo State at heart.

He therefore regretted how Mr. Ezenwaka who only has loyalty of blind people out of other scores of physically challenged persons in Imo State allowed himself to be used by some desperate politicians to act as an ingrate to the present administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma which through its 3R mantra has redefined governance in the State as well as giving the physically challenged persons sense of belonging.

“Let me seize this opportunity to disassociate the entire members of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, JONAWD in Imo State from the protest embarked upon by Mr. Ezenwaka Casmir and his cronnies.

I know Ezenwaka as the Chairman of Blind people and never being the chairman of JONAWD. And he lacks powers to speak for JONAWD.

I was duly elected as the Executive Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, JONAWD Imo State chapter.

And because of my ambition to contest for the post of National President of JONAWD in November this year, some people were sponsored by some people who are afraid of my antecedents to see how they can shatter my ambition”.

“One person has ran to court challenging my election as the State Chairman of JONAWD.

While a few of them have obtained a “black market” court order claiming to have stopped I and my Executives whereas court fixed 8th and 9th November,2022 for the hearing of the matter.

Anyway,I don’t want to say anything about a matter that is still pending in the court, but I want to let Imo State Government know that we are not part of the protest. And we have our normal way of reaching government without protest”,he stated.

The South East Zonal Chairman of the APC Special Citizens further advised physically challenged persons in Nigeria to continue to remain law abiding people noting that there is ability in disability. “Our brains are very active, and we are useful to the society.

I am asking government for more scholarship for the physically challenged persons to have more access to education, while we are solidly behind our amiable Governor Hope Uzodinma, Nwachukwu concluded.
