Breaking News.
The governor of Anambra state, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano has just recalled the monarchs who were suspended for accompanying Prince Engr Arthur Eze to the Presidency about three months ago.
9news Nigeria gathered that the traditional rulers were at Awka some minutes earlier today where they signed some documents. AIF Media learned that the governor recalled only 5 of the suspended monarchs.
Out of the suspended 12 monarchs, 2 were replaced. The governor today lifted the suspension of 5 monarchs. Among the 5 monarchs who were reinstated today are Igwe Macanthony Chinedu Elibe Okonkwo of Alor, Igwe Ezira, Igwe Ezinifite, Igwe umumbo and Igwe Ikenga. While Igwe of Igbariam, HRH Igwe Okalakwu and two others are still suspended.
It is important to note that gov Obiano took the advice of Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah who asked him to lift the suspension of these traditional rulers for the interest of ndi Anambra. In an open letter to the governor tagged, “Stop Desecrating Our Traditional Institutions In Anambra”, the YPP senator demanded the “Immediate Reinstatement of Deposed Traditional Rulers, Return Of Their Certificates And Unconditional Apology To Ndi Igwe.”
Today, the governor heeded the advice and recalled 5 of the suspended Monarchs.
What of note here is that the monarchs were suspended for 1 year. Their suspension was illegal. They had to secretly amend the Traditional Rulers Act to give legality to the aberration. But in about 4 months, they are being recalled. It shows that the governor has realised the consequences of his ill advised action.
We equally advise the governor to reinstate the remaining traditional rulers including the two Traditional Rulers from Aguleri, who were outrightly sacked.
With this, Engr Arthur Eze has been vindicated. Those who attacked the Ukpo Prince in support of gov Obiano should go and apologise to him.
