The Agege Legislative Council has confirmed AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa as the new Chairman of Agege Local Government, following the resignation of Hon. Tunde Azeez, popularly known as “Disco.”
Azeez’s resignation was formally accepted by the council during plenary on health grounds.
The lawmakers thereafter unanimously endorsed Obasa, who previously served as the council’s Vice Chairman, as the substantive Chairman.
According to reports, the confirmation followed due legislative procedure, with all councilors expressing confidence in Obasa’s capacity to continue the administration’s development agenda.
Obasa, the son of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, was sworn in shortly after the council’s decision.
In his acceptance remarks, he pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor and to prioritize infrastructural development, youth empowerment and improved welfare for residents of Agege.
The transition marks a new phase in the local government’s leadership.
