The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged ministers, special advisers, chairmen and chief executive officers of federal government agencies to communicate the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to Nigerians.
Akume made the call on Wednesday, 16 September, 2026, while addressing participants at the Federal Appointees Strategic Summit in Abuja.
The Federal Appointees Strategic Summit brought together key officials of the Federal Government to deliberate on government achievements, challenges and strategies for strengthening the implementation and communication of the administration’s agenda.
The SGF said the summit was designed to provide an opportunity for political appointees and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to take stock of the administration’s achievements while assessing the impact of government policies and programmes on common Nigerians.
“This is a strategic Summit of top political appointees of government. We are referring to Ministers, Special Advisers, Chairmen and CEOs of Agencies,” Akume said.
He stressed the need for heads of government institutions to take responsibility for explaining the policies, programmes and achievements of their respective organisations to Nigerians in a clear and accessible manner.
According to him, the summit was not intended to evaluate or judge individual ministers or agencies, but to examine what has been achieved across MDAs and how those achievements have influenced the lives of citizens.
“We are not evaluating. What we are doing is taking stock of what has been achieved by each Ministry and every Agency, and how we are able to influence the lives of the ordinary people,” he said.
Akume also encouraged participants to be open and constructive during the summit by sharing their experiences, challenges and perspectives on the implementation of government programmes.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Henry Dele Alake, said the engagement provided an opportunity for ministries, agencies, boards, federal establishments and other institutions to present their achievements and demonstrate their contributions to the Tinubu administration.
Alake urged participants to see the exercise as a presentation of the collective scorecard of federal appointees entrusted with responsibilities by the President.
He said the administration had recorded significant strides since its inception, adding that its achievements were based on what he described as tangible facts and should be communicated more effectively to Nigerians.
The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, said President Tinubu’s decision to contest the 2023 presidential election was driven by a determination to address longstanding challenges facing the country and make difficult decisions in the national interest.
Bagudu maintained that the Renewed Hope Agenda was not merely a campaign slogan but reflected the administration’s assessment of Nigeria’s circumstances and the choices required to move the country forward.
He commended Akume for convening the summit, describing it as an important platform for federal appointees to collectively review and communicate the administration’s achievements.
