Jos — Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has visited Plateau State following the recent killings in parts of the state, assuring residents that the Nigeria Police Force will intensify security operations and bring those responsible to justice.

Disu made this commitment on Wednesday during a condolence visit to the Plateau State Government over the recent attacks.

The visit followed the killing of nine passengers travelling in a Jos-bound commercial bus at Dungus Junction, Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area, as well as separate attacks reported in Vodni community, in Riyom Local Government Area.

The IGP said the Police were not satisfied with the security situation and disclosed that arrests had already been made in connection with the incidents.

“We are not happy with the situation and I can assure you we have made some arrests”, Disu said.

He assured the state government and residents that the Police would work closely with Plateau State Government, other security agencies and local communities to strengthen security and address the challenges.

Disu also called for continued synergy among security agencies, government and communities, stressing that sustainable peace and development require collective efforts.

The IGP’s visit comes as security authorities intensify efforts to apprehend those behind the recent attacks and restore confidence among affected communities.
