Akwa Ibom state governor, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is completing a big project that could create thousands of jobs for the citizens of the state. This is one of the governor’s initiatives to prepare the state for post Covid-19 economic stimulus that would shock-absorb the prevalent hardship at the end of the pandemic’s lockdown.
More than 1000 job opportunities are up for grabs as Akwa Ibom coconut oil factory nears completion.
So many doubted when the governor flagged off the project three years ago.
On Tuesday, when the State Information management team visited the Coconut Refinery as well as plantation in Mkpat Enin, doubts were cleared with the work nearing completion.
The refinery handled by reputable firm, VKS Nigeria Construction Limited has a projected capacity of processing one million coconuts a day, and will engage not less than 1000 workers divided into 3 shifts.
The project was initially scheduled to be commissioned by May this year, but was slowed due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Most equipment have arrived the location and the experts are being expected as soon as possible.
It is no longer news that coconut oil is the current cash cow globally, as the price of crude oil is dwindling. Coconut Oil is highly demanded in international market as it is used as ingredient in cosmetics, soaps, body oil and food products.
Gov. Emmanuel is the kind of leader everybody wants as he has not failed to fulfill his promises to the people.
The people should be prepared to grab this life changing opportunity.
