The Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has commended the Federal Government’s mass housing initiative which is aimed at providing affordable houses for citizens.
He made the commendation, when he visited the site earmarked for the Federal Government’s Mass Housing Scheme in the Unguwar Rere village of Lafia.
He said the efforts of the Federal Government towards meeting the housing deficit in the country, will check the excesses of landlords and provide relief in the housing sector.
The governor commended the Federal Government for providing the much needed housing infrastructure, that would benefit the residents of the state and provide an option to rented property.
Gov. Al-Makura told the leader of the team of engineers who are taking charge of the construction, that compensation for the 13 hectares of land has been paid.
He also used the medium to caution residents of Unguwan Rere to shun indiscriminate cutting of trees, saying the action is detrimental to the environment.
During the visit, it was observed that engineers have already been deployed to the site as foundations, boreholes and other architectural work are already being setup.
