All members of the House of Representatives from Enugu State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The mass defection took place on the floor of the Green Chamber on Thursday, marking a major shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
The lawmakers were formally received into the APC by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who was present at the National Assembly for the occasion.
Speaking after the defection, Prof. Yilwatda welcomed the lawmakers into the APC family, describing their move as “a testament to the growing confidence in the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
While the reasons behind their defection are yet to be officially disclosed, sources within the chamber suggest that the decision may be linked to internal crises within the PDP and the lawmakers’ desire to align with the party at the centre.
The development significantly strengthens the APC’s presence in the National Assembly and the South East region.
