Mr Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has dissolved the AMAC Marshal Corps created by his predecessor.

The AMAC Marshal Corps is the council’s security outfit established by Abdullahi Candido’s led administration to render services and boost internally generated revenue.

The chairman while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, said the AMAC taskforce would replace the corps with immediate effect.

Maikalangu, represented by Mr Emmanuel Inyang, Supervisory Councillor, Special Duties, AMAC, said that the task force would ensure internal security and assist technical partners in the revenue drive of the area council.

He added that training would be conducted for members of the task force in other to perform their duties professionally.
“We inherited some agencies and parastatals from the previous administration, including the AMAC Marshal.

“Indeed, they have been doing their best and we feel we should energise it the more and add to the security architecture of the area council.

“However, after a review of the activities of the AMAC Marshal during today’s Executive Council meeting, the council agreed to dissolve the Marshal and the task force has been empowered to ensure our internal security.

“The taskforce will also liaise with our technical partners to ensure that revenue is paid to the council, they will also ensure that residents pay their taxes.

“They will be trained and well-kitted to be able to live up to expectations as professionals and when everything is put in place, we will generate more revenue to be able to carry out more projects for the people of the area council,” he said.

He added that his administration would continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, as most abandoned projects had been taken up and some completed.

“Apart from offsetting contractors debts owed by the previous administration, we are also carrying out new projects,” he said.
