Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has predicted that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, already knows he cannot defeat him at the 2027 polls.
Wike made the statement while addressing members of the Rainbow Coalition and other stakeholders at a civic reception organised in his honour by the Ikwerre Local Government Area, held at Omagwa on Saturday.
According to Wike, Amaechi’s political fortunes now hinge on his ability to win his own polling unit and his home community of Ubima.
Wike argued that anything short of a decisive win in Ubima would expose the true scale of Amaechi’s declining support base.
The comments add to the escalating rivalry between the two Rivers State political heavyweights, who have remained at odds for years.
The reception in Omagwa took place the same day Amaechi buried his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, in Ubima; a scheduling overlap that has already drawn controversy, with the ADC accusing Wike’s camp of organising the event to disrupt the burial.
