ANAMBRA FLOODING: VALENTINE OZIGBO FULFILLS N1 MILLION PLEDGE TO AFFECTED COMMUNITIES

Valentine Ozigbo, a Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, on Saturday, October 17, 2020 fulfilled his pledge to the communities in affected by floods in Anambra North Senatorial District.

During his foundation’s community development exercise on October 3, 2020, Mr Ozigbo had pledged to donate N1 million to victims of flooding in Ogbaru, Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, and Awka North local government areas.

Presenting the donation in Ogbaru, the respected business leader reiterated his call for well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the victims of this disaster who have lost their homes, farmlands, markets, and entire communities to the floods.

Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, urged the affected communities to create a relief fund account so donations can be made as he had already galvanized kind-hearted members of society from within and outside Anambra State who have indicated interest in lending a helping hand.

Present at the presentation were several top members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) including the Minority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives and the member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Chukwuka Onyema; the Deputy Chairman of the PDP in Anambra State, Comrade Okey Asolo; Vice Chairman of the PDP in Anambra North Senatorial District, Chief Francis Udoba.

Mr. Ozigbo was accompanied by some top members of his campaign organization including a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Tim Egboka, Ichie Sunday Ezeobiora, and Sir Izuchukwu Oraelosi.

Also present at the event were local government chairmen, youth leaders, House of Assembly members and candidates, key stake holders and principal officers of the party in the local governments that make up Anambra North Senatorial Zone – Ogbaru, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Anambra West, Onitsha North, Onitsha South and Oyi.

Valentine Ozigbo is the leading PDP governorship aspirant in the Anambra governorship election slated for 2021. He is also the Founder of Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation, one of the leading non-governmental organisations in Nigeria.

According to Anambra State officials, the current wave of floods in Anambra State has currently displaced over 20,000 indigenes with 7,000 putting up in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
