In what appears like betrayal, backstabbing and witchhunt after using Osodieme, the wife of former Governor Willie Obiano to be remain at the corridor of power in Agu Awka for the past 8 years, the Aguleri cabal is after the once powerful First Lady for daring to contest the 2023 Anambra North Senatorial election which in their thinking would block their future political ambition.
Since the fracas between Osodieme and Bianca Ojukwu at the inauguration of Prof Soludo, the Aguleri cabal is latching on it to completely frustrate the Senatorial ambition of the former First Lady.
They prefer someone outside Omambala zone to pick the APGA ticket to Osodieme flying the party’s flag.
A source said the Aguleri cabal is considering many options to stop Mrs Obiano. The cabal sees Osodieme’s ambition as a political hindrance.
One of the Aguleri kingpins whose mother is from Ogbunike is insisting that Osodieme will not go to Senate. To that effect, they are planning on sponsoring someone from Onitsha zone for senate.
The former First Lady in order to beat them to the game had decided to contest the Senate as ‘onye Ogbunike’ in Oyi LGA to escape the many issues of Aguleri cabal. She has relocated her voter’s card to Oyi and registered with the APGA ward in Ogbunike.
The cabal is already in search of willing tools to use in Ogbunike including sponsoring a candidate in APC to emerge.
It was gathered that after a very strenuous search, they have allegedly settled to sponsor someone who owns a hotel in Awka to contest either for Senate or House of Reps in APGA.
The aspiration of the hotelier will be used to mobilize support agaisnt Mrs Obiano. They will use media propaganda that APGA can not give two persons from Ogbunike ticket. But it seems the people of Ogbunike are at home with Osodieme and may support her against the cabal.
Those in support of Osodieme are of the opinion that she has enough resources to battle the incumbent, Adaeze Stella Oduah of APC who has done so well for the zone. It is not clear of who will fly their flag come 2023.
