… As Jubilation erodes in the state.
By Chris Mmaju.
There was statewide jubilation in Anambra state as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo adopts a free health insurance package for all Internally generated revenue compliant commuters in the state.
The laudable development which was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu through a statement made available to pressmen stated clearly that “Moving forward, every compliant commercial bus driver will get a free Health Insurance cover that would enable the insured to have access to basic health and emergency services in any State owned Hospital in the Anambra.”
The Statement of the Commissioner of information reads as follows:
The idea of granting free health insurance coverage for commercial drivers in Anambra state was one of the suggestion by a foremost Anambra son and the CEO/ founder of the Megavox foundation, a US-based Software engineer and entrepreneur, Chief Leo Emesue (Ezu Abagana) during one of his live interview sessions on ABS TV program with the topic “Accessing good health care in Anambra state and how to encourage Tax payment and IGR”.
At the ABS Radio program, Chief Leo Emesue said: our people are afraid of paying tax to the Government because to them, there is nothing personally they have benefited from the payment of tax to the government by the people. They want to be seeing the dividend of democracy right in front of them, for example, Keke drivers and other Commercial drivers who pay their taxes to the government and their dues to their union can be encouraged to continue doing so through stimuli packages and extending free insurance coverage to them. Even if at the nearest further the government decides to increase their tax, the provided free health care insurance will give them and their family easy access to free medical care and treatments and that after medical checkups or treatments, they are to pay only 10% of what their bill, I don’t think they won’t hesitate in paying government their taxes and dues at the right time, End of quote.
