A Party Leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambassador Nurain Abayomi Mumuni, has called on political office holders and politicians to permit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu concentrate on delivering his campaign promises rather than dragging him into discussions about the 2027 presidential race.

Mumuni made this appeal in response to a series of meetings by some politicians ahead of the next election cycle. In a statement issued through his media aide, Rasheed Abubakar, he stressed that Nigeria is currently facing major socio-economic challenges affecting millions of citizens.

He implores the political class to prioritize national welfare over personal ambitions and early campaign strategies.Describing ongoing efforts to push for Tinubu’s re-election bid as premature, Mumuni encouraged politicians to set aside their 2027 aspirations for now.

He emphasized that Nigerians need hope, direction, and concrete solutions to their pressing problems, not political distractions. He further advised politicians to rise above partisan politics and focus on addressing the critical issues affecting ordinary citizens rather than engaging in early electioneering.

“To the political elite of Nigeria. We stand at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history, one that requires solidarity, focus, and unwavering support for the President of our great nation.

As we continue to face the profound challenges of hardship, hunger, and poverty, it is crucial that we allow our President the necessary space and time to implement the transformative agendas promised during the campaign.

“The nation is currently grappling with significant socio-economic issues that have affected the livelihoods of millions of Nigerians.

It is our collective duty to prioritize the well-being of our citizens over personal ambitions or political posturing.

The agenda set forth by the President is a comprehensive roadmap aimed at revitalizing our economy, ensuring food security, enhancing healthcare, and promoting education—initiatives that, if fully supported, have the potential to uplift the Nigerian populace.

“While the temptation to focus on the upcoming 2027 elections may be strong, we must recognize that premature political campaigning will detract from the essential work that lies ahead.

The period leading up to the elections should not be a time of division or distractions; rather, it should serve as an opportunity for all political actors to rally behind the President, encouraging progress rather than undermining it.

“I urge our esteemed political leaders to set aside personal ambitions and campaign aspirations for the time being. Let us unite in a common goal—to uplift Nigeria, foster economic stability, and promote peace and unity among our people.

There will be ample time for campaign strategies and electoral debates in the future, but our nation’s current needs must take precedence.

“Our people are looking for hope, direction, and tangible solutions. Let’s work together to provide that. It is time to rise above partisan politics and focus on the pressing challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians.

“I call on every political leader, party member, and stakeholder to give the President the chance he deserves to fulfill the promises made to the people of Nigeria.

In doing so, we can create an environment where our nation can thrive, paving the way for a brighter future for all. Together, let us commit to building the Nigeria we aspire to see—one rooted in prosperity, peace, and collective growth.
