Nigerians have been called upon to use this year’s Ramadan and Easter periods to pray for peace and prosperity in the country
In a statement released in Abuja, an All Progressives Congress Party, APC leader, and frontline aspirant for the office of the Director General, of the Support Groups, AASG, Alhaji Salman Akorede, said that what Nigeria needed most at these difficult times were prayers to cleanse the land of all evils and elements who don’t wish the country well
He specifically charged the support groups leaders to use the spiritual significance of Ramadan and Easter to pray for Mr President and his team for God’s guidance and the courage to see to the successful outcomes of the economic reforms
Alhaji Salman, also counselled on the need for Nigerians to exercise a little bit of more patience, as the ongoing reforms were begining to yield positive results, with the Naira gaining strength and value on daily basis
He called on both Muslims and Christians to use the holy periods to draw closer to Allah by engaging in devotional duties for spiritual atonement from sins
The APC leader, equally appealed to the government to engage the support groups in the distribution of palliatives to cushion the harsh economic situation
According to him involving the support groups in the palliatives distribution will have far reaching impact, at the grassroots, as they exist in all wards and local government areas of the country, where most of the vulnerable people reside.
