The All Progressives Congress (APC) has uploaded the nomination details of 13 governorship candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Party officials said the candidates’ details have been successfully processed through INEC’s Candidate Nomination Portal, while documentation for the remaining governorship candidates is being completed.
A senior APC official expressed confidence that the party would submit all 28 governorship candidates and their running mates before INEC’s August 8 deadline.
Among those reportedly uploaded are Lagos State Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Solomon Adeola (Ogun), Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago (Niger), Senator Ahmed Wadada (Nasarawa), Speaker Yakubu Danladi (Kwara), Governor Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Ahmed Galadima (Adamawa) and Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau).
The official said the party’s ICT team is managing the upload process and ensuring that all documents meet INEC’s requirements.
However, APC disclosed that the upload of State House of Assembly candidates has been delayed by technical issues affecting INEC’s nomination portal.
Despite the challenge, the party said all required documents have been scanned and are ready for immediate upload once the portal issues are resolved.
The APC also dismissed concerns over disagreements following its governorship primaries, saying its reconciliation committee has begun engaging aggrieved members.
APC National Publicity Director Bala Ibrahim said the committee is working to resolve disputes and reunite members ahead of the election campaign.
He urged party members to remain committed to promoting the APC’s programmes and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
INEC opened its nomination portal for governorship and State House of Assembly candidates on July 18, with August 8 set as the submission deadline.
The commission is expected to publish candidates’ particulars on August 29 for public scrutiny, while September 19 has been fixed as the deadline for withdrawal or substitution of candidates.
Earlier, the APC announced that it had successfully uploaded all its presidential and National Assembly candidates, covering 471 nominees, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives.
APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the exercise as a major milestone and said the party would now focus on mobilisation, campaigns and preparations for the 2027 elections.
