American technology company has received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorization to transform its second-generation AirPods Pro into over-the-counter hearing aids.
According to the FDA, this software device is classified as “the first over-the-counter hearing aid software”, marking a major step in accessible health science and technology.
This new approval comes after a confirmation of its effectiveness through clinical study of 118 subjects with mild to moderate hearing loss.
Meanwhile, the AirPods Pro will also include Hearing Protection mode and personalized audio profiles through Apple’s Health app.
Apple had recently announced the release of its new iPhone model; iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
