Nigeria and Chelsea football legend, John Mikel Obi has hailed Arsenal as having the strongest squad in world football, praising their incredible depth and balance in world football.
According to Mikel, the Gunners bench strength gives them and edge over any team globally, as substitutes like Martinelli and Eze have constantly turned matches around.
Speaking on Obi One podcast, the former Trabsonspor midfielder tipped Arsenal for the title, citing deep squad.
“This season I think It’s Arsenal’. It’s Arsenal lose. It’s Arsenal to lose. If Mikel Arteta and Arsenal don’t win the Premier League, the squad – the depth they have – is frightening”, he said.
“They have the best squad, not just in the Premier League, not just in England…In world football right now, I bet you there’s no better squad, Depth squad.
“Name one squad – you’re not talking about the 11 that start- what do you have on the bench that comes in and win game!? Arsenal, it’s not better sometimes. It’s not just the starting 11 that wins your games, It’s who you bring off the bench”.
He noted that even with Ordegaard, Gabriel Jesus, and Havertz, Arsenal still look dominant – a sign of their title-winning potential under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners have been nearly men for three consecutive seasons, however, their activity in the transfer window this summer and stability at Liverpool and Manchester City led many, including Mikel to tip Arteta’s side for glorious title.
