As Business Activities Gradually Return In Owerri, Banks, Malls, Markets, Eateries, Transporters Begin Normal Operations

Today in Imo State Nigeria, Our reporter toured round the state to ascertain the actual position of activities after few days of apprehension on looming protest .

9News Nigeria reports that, public transporters, shops, malls, markets, banks have started normal business in full operation since the threatening hunger protest was halted in Imo state Nigeria.

Recall that the #Badgovernance protest is still going causing a lot of public tension in some states of the federation and political regions at press time.

That according to reports is a glaring significance of unfavorable governance to the people. The economical meltdown has affected every sector in the country and Imo state is not left out.

In addition, fuel pump price has got to about N850 to 1200 at different locations while transport fare has increased tremendously. Costs of market commodities and living are so high that the commonest food items- garri, yam and rice, can no longer be affordable by the downtrodden in the society.

Imo people about to join the protest were told to stay calm since the president through Governor Uzodinma has acknowledged untold hardship the people are passing through while setting up plans to improve the economy and stabilze the country.

Further action was taken by Imo state government and fellow South East governors to issue warning signals targetted at stoping protesters from carrying out the action in the zone.

However, some hoodlums are reportedly using the protest to perpetuate criminal acts in some areas in the name of protesters and this led to warning by Imo State government.

9News reports that Imolites have been on apprehension until the reopening of businesses today Friday. This afternoon every location in Imo is calm while businesses are coming up gradually and transporters are freely doing their business.

Citizens who spoke with our correspondent in Owerri expressed happiness on the resurfacing of business activities after few days of uncertainties that rocked the country.

They stated clearly that the reopening has brought a sense of relief to the city, as many had feared that the recent unrest would lead to a prolonged period of economic downturn.

Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, has returned to its full daily activities but some places like Orlu and Okigwe axis are not favourable for business activities till date.

Banks, malls, and markets have reopened their doors, signaling the resumption of full business activities within the capital city of Imo State. Towards suburb towns like Egbu, Orji, Amakohia, Irete, Nekede, Naze, Ihiagwa, Obinze, Avu are fully busy with normal daily activities as 9News Nigeria reports.

An anonymous who spoke to 9News hinted that the streets are once again filled with the sounds of commerce and trade, as residents and visitors alike go about their daily activities.

He added that unlike some parts of the northern states, where protests are ongoing, the people of Imo State are going about their daily business as usual.

The same scenario is playing out in other South Eastern states, where business is booming and life is
returning to normal.

Enugu , Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra alongside Imo state is calm and no report of insecurity and protest was recorded at the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria.

However, the resilience of the people of Owerri has shown through, and the city is now thriving once more as witnessed from the bustling markets to the sleek malls, the sounds of commerce and trade that fill the air, is a testament to the city’s determination to bounce back to normal activities.

The reopening of businesses has brought a sense of relief to the city, as many had feared that the recent unrest would lead to a prolonged period of economic downturn.

At Eke ukwu market Douglas road, shops were open and customers spotted trooping to and fro at ease of activities.

Alaba market located along Aba road has also resumed operation alongside world bank, Amakohia and Orji public markets as 9News Nigeria reports.
