Former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has approved the party’s Presidential Campaign Council ahead of 2027 general elections, with former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai named as Deputy Chairman.
The campaign structure, announced on Thursday September 24, 2026 by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, is headed by Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as Chairman, while Senator Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu will serve as Director-General and Campaign Manager.
According to the campaign, the council was deliberately structured as a learn, task-driven organisation designed to give each directorate and appointed clearly defined responsibilities.
The six major operational directorates will be headed by Deputy Director-General, with 30 Directors assigned specific responsibilities across the campaign structure.
Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, will oversee Media and Communications, while former Kogi State Senator Dino Melaye will head Contact and Mobilisation.
The team will be chaired by Mohammed Hayatudeen, with Professor Kingsley Moghalu among its members.
Former Edo State Governor and former APC National Chairman, John Oyegun, will chair the Campaign Advisory Board.
The campaign said its central focus would be on issues it identified as major concerns for Nigerians, including the rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity and declining purchasing power.
Shaibu said the structure was designed to move the campaign from broad political messaging to clearly assigned responsibilities and measurable outcomes.
“This is structure built for work. Every directorate has a duty. Every director has an assignment. Every appointee must account for results”.
The campaign said its performance would be measured by how effectively it addresses economic and security concerns and communicates its proposed solutions to Nigerians.
The unveiling represents a major organisational step by the ADC as political parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
The ADC has already submitted Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi has its presidential and vice presidential candidate to INEC.
