The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has appointed former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as a member of his Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.
Atiku announced the appointment in a statement issued through his media aide on Thursday.
The appointment comes amid reports that El-Rufai is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), where he is reportedly facing allegations involving the Kaduna State and the Federal Governments.
El-Rufai’s inclusion in the campaign structure adds to the growing political activities within the ADC as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
Further details on the specific responsibilities assigned to El-Rufai in the campaign council were not immediately stated.
