Senator Ned Nwoko has appealed to the public, particularly fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to give his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, space to recover from her reported health challenges.
Nwoko made the appeal in a statement expressing concern over what he described as the circulation of false, disturbing and fabricated reports about the actress.
He urged Nigerians to prioritise Regina’s well-being and consider the emotional welfare of their children, who, according to him, deserve to see their mother receive love, support and an opportunity to recover.
The senator said Regina had been through significant difficulties that many people might not fully understand.
He also referred to a birthday video recently shared by the actress, saying it offered the public a glimpse into some of the health challenges she had been experiencing.
According to him, the current situation calls for compassion rather than public criticism, judgment or further emotional pressure.
Nwoko maintained that despite the difficulties in their relationship, Regina’s welfare remained a major concern to him.
He said concern for her well-being was among the issues that brought aspects of their private relationship into the public domain.
The former lawmaker also expressed particular displeasure over fabricated death announcements, misleading health reports and other publications circulating on social media.
He warned that such reports were not harmless attempts to generate online engagement, insisting that they caused emotional distress to the actress.
Nwoko said Regina was aware of many of the publications and that their circulation could further worsen the burden she was already facing.
He therefore called on her fans and supporters to discourage the spread of false information instead of sharing or amplifying such content.
The senator further issued a strong warning to bloggers and social media users deliberately publishing fabricated stories about Regina’s death, health and personal circumstances.
He disclosed that the publications were being documented and warned that those responsible could face legal consequences through appropriate channels.
Nwoko insisted that Regina deserved privacy, compassion and an opportunity to recover without being subjected to repeated misinformation and online attacks.
He urged members of the public to exercise restraint and avoid turning the actress’s personal circumstances into an opportunity for social media engagement.
