Rights Advocate and United Nations Mayor of Peace, Ambassador Lucky Igbokwe has urged youths across Igbo land to have a rethink and resist the temptation of being instrumental in the destruction of the Igbo nation.

Igbokwe gave the admonition in a statement made available to 9News Nigeria on Sunday night, against the backdrops of the attacks on security formations, its personnels and as well government owed facilities by yet-to-be identified gunmen in the country particularly states of the southeast and south south Nigeria.

The Abia-born UN Mayor lamented that the wanton and unwarranted attacks on security stations cannot be a sustainable path to equity and justice, adding that the civil unrest if allow to continue lingering would cause unimaginable harm than good, in the existence of Igbo nation and indeed, Nigeria as a whole.

He also expressed worries at the present condition of the people of the southeast zone of Igbo extraction.

The UN based peace ambassador further lamented the issues of marginalization and nepotism are well established against the Igbo nation in present Nigeria system.

However, our victory will come through consistent and very difficult negotiations and renegotiations that must take place. The memories of forebears will not and must not be revisited through violence. With one voice, we demand our equity but be rest assured that we cannot achieve the equity we want by wielding AK 47s on our streets.

According to the statement which partly read, “I bring you good tidings of peace. Tidings to make us pause and ponder over our current situation and where it’ll lead us to in the future.

“Today, I ask my fellow youth, who is going to benefit from the destruction of institutions that are established to secure our people?

“Five decades after the civil war ended when our parents had managed to make a meaningful progress from the ruins of the war, the little infrastructure we have, we are still destroying.

“The peace we are known for, has become a scarce commodity. The bloodshed we have wiped off our minds has resumed flow on our soil? Why? Our aged are in panic, our children are confused and in fear. Why are we bent on destroying our land?

“However, our victory must not come in us turning against our collective future.

“Let’s resolve to tow the path of peaceful negotiations, protect our land and heritage, and as well restore peace in our land, “the CEO of 2flames Entertainment Industry concluded.

In the same vein, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Janet Agbede, Sunday, confirmed the killing of two inspectors by-yet-to be identified gunmen during their saturday’s attack on the State Criminal Investigation Department in Umuagu, Umuahia North Local Government area.

CP Agbede also disclosed that no fewer than eight of the attackers, suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN), were killed by the police.

9News Nigeria had earlier reported that unknown gunmen had razed down the Umuagu Police station in Umuahia North Local Government area of the state during an attack on Saturday.
