Midala Usman Balami, member representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, has moved a Motion of Urgent Public Importance during plenary on Wednesday.
The motion called for the immediate rescue of 42 abducted school children from Mussa Ward in Askira-Uba LGA, Borno State.
The pupils were reportedly abducted from their school in Mussa Ward during an attack by gunmen two weeks ago.
Balami also called for the rescue of other abductees still held in captivity across communities.
He expressed deep concern over recurring attacks on schools and communities.
Balami said the attacks continue to threaten education and endanger lives.
He added that the attacks erode public confidence in government efforts to provide security.
The motion urges the Federal Government and security agencies to take decisive action.
It demands securing the release of all abductees.
It also calls for strengthening security around schools and expanding school protection initiatives.
The motion further asks for implementation of a comprehensive Safe Schools Security Framework.
Balami said our children deserve to learn in safety and our communities deserve protection.
He declared that the time for decisive action is now.
