The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has urged 2017 Batch ‘B’ stream 11 corps members in Osun to be patriotic in their dealings and promote peace in the communities where they were posted.
Aregbesola, who was represented by the Commissioner for Employment and Youth Engagement, Mrs Folake Adegboyega emphasised the unique role of graduate youth in the society, saying they are productive force of the nation.
He was speaking at the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) Orientation Camp in Osun, located at Ede, during the closing ceremony of the 3- week orientation programme.
He advised them to shun ” get rich quick” syndrome, and thrive towards becoming an enviable ambassador of their families and nation at large.
He therefore reiterated the resolve of his government to help corps members in the state in harnessing their potentials fully, with laudable programmes and initiatives.
“As you have successfully completed the first cardinal programme of the NYSC aimed at preparing graduate youths for their unique roles in the society; this you have successfully completed today, congratulations once again.
“I want to specially commend camp officials for their sacrifice and commitment towards the actualization of the objectives of the scheme. I know yours is a herculean task but your have shown a high since of commitment towards ensuring that graduate youths are properly sensitised.
” I want to assure you that the government is very passionate about you, and we will continue to introduce different programmes to aid your knowledge and exposure, ” Aregbesola said.
Meanwhile, the State Coordinator of the scheme in the state, Mr Emmanuel Attah has described the 3-week orientation programme as a great opportunity for corps members to interact with colleagues from other parts of the country.
“I am bold to say that these young compatriots, having gone through the induction course are now ready to move into the next phase of service. I have the assurance that they will make their impact meaningfully”, Attah remarked.
DAILY POST reports that the total of 2,056 Corps members from Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states had their orientation camp in Osun State.
