BORNO FLOOD: Grand Donation As Bauchi Governor Visits Maiduguri

The victims of flood disaster in Maiduguri have gotten a grand donation of N250m from Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

This was following the governor’s condolence and sympathy visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State after a catastrophic flood disaster that ravaged the state.

With the new donation, the state has received about N6.5bn from different governments, private sectors and philanthropists across Nigeria.

He was hosted by Gov. Zulum at the state government house in Maiduguri on Monday.

During the visit Governor Mohammed conveyed his sympathy on behalf of the people of Bauchi State, acknowledging the immense loss of lives and properties.

He praised the unwavering spirit of the Borno State people, saying, “Your strength in the face of adversity is truly inspiring.”

In addition to the N250m cash donation, he presented a comprehensive humanitarian aid package consisting of the food supplies to sustain affected families.

While responding, Governor Zulum expressed gratitude for the donation and heartfelt solidarity.

“Your support brings hope and relief to the people of Borno state,” he said.

Now in its 8th day, the flood disaster in Borno has displaced about one million people from the state’s capital Maiduguri and Jere and Konduga local government areas of the state.

It has also destroyed hundreds of buildings and other public and private facilities, rendering thousands jobless.

While, the flood has subsided, some displaced person’s are yet to return to their houses as they are still submerged in water.
