Borno State’s Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (BICTDA) has made history by emerging as the 1st runner-up in Digital Technology Human Capital Development at the 12th National Council on Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (NCCIDE).
The recognition came after a rigorous peer review of 23 states at the event held in Makurdi, Benue State.
BICTDA was also assessed across three categories: e-Governance, Infrastructure, and Human Capital Development.
BICTDA’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Kabiru Wanori, celebrated the milestone, while highlighting the agency’s impressive achievements.
He said that the agency reached this milestone despite being only eight months old.
Wanori attributed the award to Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum’s commitment to promoting digital literacy across Borno’s 27 local government areas.
This recognition, he said, underscores Borno State’s rising influence in Nigeria’s digital economy.
Wanori also credited the award to the state’s strategic focus on human capital development, particularly in equipping youth with critical digital skills.
The 12th NCCIDE focused on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Nigeria’s sustainable development.
The event emphasized collaboration, reviewed existing policies, and addressed challenges like infrastructure deficits and digital skill gaps.
With this achievement, BICTDA is expected to continue driving digital transformation and economic growth in Borno State.
“This recognition motivates us to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for Borno and Nigeria’s digital ecosystem,” Wanori said.
