According to the NUJ, Mari was a pillar of the Borno State Correspondents’ Chapel, adding that “throughout his years of practice in the state, especially during the difficult period of the insurgency, he remained committed to truthful reporting and the promotion of peace.”
“His calm, wise counsel, and friendship will be sorely missed within the entire Borno media family,” the statement added.
The Council also noted that Mari left behind “a legacy of dedication, humility, and high professional standards.”
The Borno NUJ has extended heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, colleagues at the Correspondents’ Chapel, the management and staff of Champion Newspaper, and the entire journalism fraternity in Nigeria.
