The Lagos State Government has identified a trailer park that will take up to 6,000 trucks to decongest the number of trailers parked on the roads in Apapa.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this known via his official Twitter handle @jidesanwoolu on Wednesday.

The governor said construction work at the new found trailer park will start in earnest and the state government is also working with the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA and the Nigerian Shipper’s Council for a long-lasting solution.

The long line of trailers parked on the roads in Apapa has been a continued menace not just to the flow of traffic in that axis, but also on the state of the roads. Lagosians have bemoaned about the incessant traffic congestion that could be mentally depressing, and the very bad state of the roads that has caused quite a number of accidents over the years.

This move, however, by the Lagos State Government would be seen as a welcome development as it is geared at decongesting the trailers and relocating them to a new location where their activities would not interfere with the daily flow of traffic.

“We will continue to carry everyone along on our journey to a greater Lagos. We remain committed to the mandate given to us to serve the people of Lagos state and will ensure that plans for the continued development of our state are implemented and sustained.” Mr Sanwo-Olu said.
