An unidentified army officer killed a tanker driver at the Army Checkpoint along Port Harcourt-Airport-Owerri Road, Omagwa, around 9pm last night because of N200 bribe.
Now, tanker drivers have blocked the road, including Airport-Obiri Ikwerre Road, thereby causing untold hardship to innocent travellers.
The chairman of ikwerre Local Government Hon Samuel Nwanosike visited the scene, he pleaded with the tankers drivers to give peace a chance, that he will make sure the needful is done properly to stop all this road troubles, he also encourage the tankers drivers to ensure they get their stickers from the local government council’s to avoid all this road embarrassment
Hon Samuel Nwanosike Really appreciate the tankers drivers for given him attention,he promise them, there will be no more intimidation in ikwerre Local Government roads anymore
Meanwhile, the military officers who have been extorting monies from commercial drivers and commuters on that checkpoint have deserted the area for their dear lives
